Lucky owners of Lake District holiday lodge win a Mini Cooper
When Sue and Roger Button bought their luxury holiday lodge at Thanet Well Park near Greystoke in Cumbria this September, they never realised they’d win a brand new Mini Cooper. They won the car at a prize draw on November 4th held by the park’s owner, North Dales Leisure Parks. Now Sue and Roger can drive in style to their lodge for holidays and breaks from their home near Carlisle.
Along with 33 other people who have bought lodges or caravan holiday homes this summer from North Dales Leisure Parks, Sue and Roger were automatically entered into a prize draw. They and two other new owners were shortlisted at random to attend the draw on November 4th. There, each contestant selected a box to open; one contained the keys to the Mini, the other two contained consolation prizes of Marks and Spencer vouchers worth £200. Sue was the lucky winner.
“I’m absolutely thrilled, I never thought I’d win,” she said. Husband Roger added: “I’m really going to enjoy driving this new model, having driven older versions of the Mini on occasions. This one, though, is much roomier .”
Sue and Roger lived in South East London for many years where Roger was an engineer and Sue a Civil Servant. They moved north to Brampton in 2003 and decided to look for a holiday home this year. The beautiful Lake District, being only 40 minutes from home, seemed the obvious location and Sue and Roger decided a holiday lodge would be a better investment than traditional bricks and mortar in the current economic climate. “We chose Thanet Well Park because it’s quiet with wonderful views of Carrock Fell,” explained Sue. “And we can sublet the lodge when we’re not using it so it’s a good investment as well.”
